Exclusive interview with Tom Fletcher

By the beginning of last June, McFly Portugal team got in touch with Prestige Management , McFly’s management, and the opportunity of asking the band a few questions came up. All the questions were sent by Portuguese fans, selected by our staff and answered by Tom Fletcher. 1. With Super Records, you have to make decisions that you never had the chance to make in the past. Was there any moment that you guys regretted creating your own record label? Joana Pinto, Barcelos
No we have never regretted it. It’s been fantastic fun and been a nice challenge for us.

2. Has it ever happened to you writing a song and it sounds good in that moment and then when you go back reading it, it sounds pathetic? D’you ever regret any lyrics you write? Margarida Abreu, Ilha da Madeira
Yes, it happens all the time, you go to bed thinking you’ve written a hit and you wake up and its awful!

3. Do you find it strange that fans have gone as far as making fansites for your families, pets, girlfriends etc.? What do you think of it? Mariana Cruz, Aveiro
Yes, its hard to believe but its amazing that we have such passionate fans and we wouldn’t change it for the World.

4. Harry, you said on an interview that you were going to sing one of the songs of Radio:Active. Were you being sarcastic? Or something went wrong and you didn’t have the chance to do it? Because we know for sure most people would be quite amused to hear you sing. Rute Silveiro, Viana do Castelo
Harry was only joking but we think he secretly wanted to.

5. As you have said before, Radio:Active is your best album yet… So tell us, what can we expect from the upcoming one? Marta Marques, Lisboa
An even better one!! We are still working on it & there is a lot to be done but we think our fans will be pleasantly suprised.

6. If you had to choose a line from all the lyrics you have already written that best defined the spirit of the band, which one would it be and why? Diana Duarte, Lisboa
Doo Doo Do Do Doo Doo…………….

7. You’ve been to the old continent, to sunny South America, to cosmopolitan US, freezing Canada, paradisiacal Australia, exotic Asia, super-hot Africa and so on and on and on. What’s next? Take over Antarctica and meet some penguins? Fly to the moon and plan world domination? What are your plans for the future? Alexandra Montenegro, Porto
Yeah! We want to be the first band in Space!!!

8. Did you already know that you had fans in Portugal? Have you ever met any of them or seen them in your shows? Rita Chaves, Faro
We can’t believe we have fans in England so it’s crazy to know that we have fans in Portugal and the rest of the World?!

9. As we are Portuguese fans, here goes the cliché question…what do you know about our country? Has any of you already been here? Inês Rodrigues, Castelo Branco
Sorry to say we know very little, You’ll have to educate us all.

10. Thank you very much for your time. It means a lot us, because we have been fighting a lot to promote you here in Portugal. Just for instance, your video “Falling in Love” as reached number 1 on Hit List Portugal, a MTV chart, due to your fans’ hard work, and we are all really proud of you and waiting eagerly for a show (or maybe two).
